About

Raul Bravo, was born in Cuba in 1968, is a Cuban-American artist now residing and working in Miami, Florida. His artistic journey spans more than two decades, during which he has honed his craft in various mediums, including acrylics, oils, pastels, and mixed media. A self-taught artist, Bravo began creating art at an early age, developing a deeply personal and emotive style that resonates through his work.

Bravo's paintings are rich with symbolism, exploring themes of power, identity, memory, and emotional complexity. His works often depict fragmented, abstract figures intertwined in dynamic compositions, reflecting the complexities of human relationships and societal struggles. These figures, often caught between joy and suffering, evoke a unique world of emotions and memories. The use of bold colors and geometric forms adds depth and intensity to his visual storytelling, inviting the viewer to explore each layer of meaning.

In his painting the artist creates artworks where the figures are fragmented, yet interlocked, with symbols giving meaning to the world around us.  His intricate compositions often blur the line between abstraction and reality, creating a surreal yet highly expressive narrative. The use of muted tones reflects a world in flux, where the balance between hope and despair is constantly in question.

Bravo’s work is deeply personal, yet universally relatable, as he taps into collective human experiences. His art serves as a bridge between the past and the present, a reflection of his Cuban heritage and his experiences as an immigrant in the United States. Through his unique visual language, Bravo invites viewers into a world filled with poignant memories, powerful emotions, and thought-provoking commentary on society.
